Obama’s speech this past Thursday has created rifts. Much of what he spoke about was unintelligible while some of it wasn’t even accurate. Let’s set the record straight…
Obama’s speech on Thursday came as no surprise to me. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would be meeting President Obama at the White House on Friday and would speak to a joint session of Congress on Monday, May 23.
It was obvious that Obama would have to lay out his administration’s view and plans for the Israeli/Palestinian issue prior to Netanyahu’s speech. Netanyahu is known for being direct and with all that has happened over the past few months in the region Netanyahu was bound to make Israel’s position clear.
I have written a lot over the past year on the Obama administration’s position on Israel. Last March the title of my article alone said it all; “Israel no longer an ally of the U.S.”. As I said, this speech was no surprise to me.
As usual, there was plenty of word games and political correctness in the 45 minute speech. The portion that most people have been concentrating on was Obama’s statement of Israel’s borders and 1967. Obama stated,
“The United States believes that negotiations should result in two states, with permanent Palestinian borders with Israel, Jordan, and Egypt, and permanent Israeli borders with Palestine. We believe the borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps, so that secure and recognized borders are established for both states.”
This statement is misleading on two counts to say the least. First, what Obama was referring to were not borders, they are lines and they are not of 1967; they are the Armistice lines of 1949.
A quick history lesson: Palestine was never a country, it was a territory. As explained by Mideast.org,
In November 1917, before Britain had conquered Jerusalem and the area to be known as Palestine, Britain issued the Balfour Declaration.
At the Paris peace conference in 1919, Zionist and Arab representatives pleaded their case, and met each other. The Zionists presented a map of the area they wanted for the Jewish national home. Remarkably, Dr. Weizmann and the Emir Feisal reached a signed agreement regarding Arab support for a Jewish national home.
At the Paris peace conference and through the League of Nations, much of the Ottoman Empire was divided into mandated territories assigned to the victors of the war (WWI).The British were anxious to keep Palestine away from the French, and decided to ask for a mandate that would implement the Jewish national home of the Balfour declaration, a project that would be supported by the Americans.
In 1920, Britain received a provisional mandate over Palestine, which would extend west and east of the River Jordan. In 1922, the British declared that the boundary of Palestine would be limited to the area west of the river. The area east of the river, called Transjordan (now Jordan), was made a separate British mandate and eventually given independence.
After WWII and the Holocaust,
The United Nations Special Commission on Palestine (UNSCOP) recommended that Palestine be divided into an Arab state and a Jewish state. The commission called for Jerusalem to be put under international administration The UN General Assembly adopted this plan on Nov. 29, 1947 as UN Resolution (GA 181).
On May 14, 1948, the Jews proclaimed the independent State of Israel, and the British withdrew from Palestine. In the following days and weeks, neighboring Arab nations invaded Palestine and Israel.
When the fighting ended in 1949, Israel held territories beyond the boundaries set by the UN plan - a total of 78% of the area west of the Jordan River. The UN made no serious attempt to enforce the internationalization of Jerusalem, which was now divided between Jordan and Israel, and separated by barbed wire fences and no man's land areas.
The borders of Israel were established along the "green line" of the armistice agreements of 1949. These borders were not recognized by Arab states, which continued to refuse to recognize Israel.
These “green lines” of 1949 stood until the Six Day War in 1967 when Israel took control of Jerusalem and the West Bank in the east, Gaza in the south and the Golan Heights in the north. These are the current lines or borders that Israel currently maintains. When Obama speaks of the 1967 lines he is referring to the “pre” 1967 lines which are the 1949 Armistice Lines.
So let us stop playing word games. This is not about the 1967 lines or borders, it is telling Israel that it should return to the 1949 lines. The same lines that the Arab states refused to recognize in 1949.
The distance from Israel’s largest city, Tel Aviv, which is on the on the shore of the Mediterranean ocean, to its border on the east would be only 9 miles wide according to the 1949 lines. Nine miles is less than most people commute to work every day.
Having to explain the difference between the weapons used in 1949 and today I am sure is a moot point. Needless to say, even homemade rockets such as those that Hamas builds and fires indiscriminately into Israel on a regular basis would reach from the 1949 lines to Tel Aviv.
It would be impossible for any country to defend an area only 9 miles wide, let alone Israel who is surrounded by enemies and constantly shelled by Hezbollah in the north and Gaza in the south.
Judge Stephen Schwebel wrote on the subject of Israel and its borders in 1994 according to International law. Schwebel is a Judge in the International Court of Justice who has served in the Court since January 1981. He was Vice-President from 1994 to 1997 and has been President since February 1997. A former Deputy Legal Adviser of the United States Department of State and Burling Professor of International Law at the School of Advanced International Studies of The John Hopkins University (Washington), Judge Schwebel is the author of three books and some 150 articles on problems of international law and organization.
Judge Schwebel wrote in “What Weight to Conquest”,
(a) a state [Israel] acting in lawful exercise of its right of self-defense may seize and occupy foreign territory as long as such seizure and occupation are necessary to its self-defense;
(b) as a condition of its withdrawal from such territory, that State may require the institution of security measures reasonably designed to ensure that that territory shall not again be used to mount a threat or use of force against it of such a nature as to justify exercise of self-defense;
(c) Where the prior holder of territory had seized that territory unlawfully [Jordan], the state which subsequently takes that territory in the lawful exercise of self-defense [Israel] has, against that prior holder, better title.
The facts of the June 1967 "Six Day War" demonstrate that Israel reacted defensively against the threat and use of force against her by her Arab neighbors.
It follows that the application of the doctrine of according no weight to conquest requires modification in double measure. In the first place, having regard to the consideration that, as between Israel, acting defensively in 1948 and 1967, on the one hand, and her Arab neighbors, acting aggressively in 1948 and 1967, on the other, Israel has better title in the territory of what was Palestine, including the whole of Jerusalem, than do Jordan and Egypt (the UAR indeed has, unlike Jordan, not asserted sovereign title), it follows that modifications of the 1949 armistice lines among those States within former Palestinian territory are lawful.
Congressman Colonel Allen West put it best by saying in part,
"Today’s endorsement by President Barack Obama of the creation of a Hamas-led Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, signals the most egregious foreign policy decision his administration has made to date, and could be the beginning of the end as we know it for the Jewish state."
He ended his statement by saying,
"President Obama has not stood for Israel or the Jewish people and has made it clear where the United States will stand when Palestine attempts to gain recognition of statehood by the United Nations. The President should focus on the real obstacle to security- the Palestinian leadership and its ultimate goal to eliminate Israel and the Jewish people."
Perhaps Mr. President, the United States should return the over 500,000 square miles of new territory it gained in the Mexican-American War (1846-1848). You know, the American states of California, Arizona, and New Mexico, and significant parts of Utah, Colorado, Nevada, and Wyoming.
One other thing that Obama spoke about during his speech that hasn’t received much if any question was his statement on Israel’s security,
“As for security, every state has the right to self-defense, and Israel must be able to defend itself -– by itself -– against any threat.”
Many will say I am reading into this too much, but one thing I know for sure is Obama is extremely careful and calculating when choosing his words. He has proven this time and again and what may seem small or inconsequential later proves to be of extreme importance.
“ …and Israel must be able to defend itself -– by itself.” Was that with the reiteration of “by itself”? Perhaps the administration plans on cutting back on Israeli aide? Maybe that’s where the 3 billion to Egypt would come from?
Now that Mubarak has been ousted as the leader of Egypt, Obama has proposed to give Egypt 3 billion dollars as reported by the Examiner,
One day after making a historic speech in calling for Israel to give up Jerusalem, President Obama is planning on providing $3 billion in cash and debt forgiveness to the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt.
On May 19th, President Obama laid out a plan to forgive Egypt of over $1 Billion in debt. This debt forgiveness is on top of the $2 Billion additional funds the Obama administration plans to provide in foreign aid to the Middle Eastern nation.
Another part of his speech leads the listener to assume and squarely puts the blame on Israel for the death of 3 girls in Gaza,
“We see it in the actions of a Palestinian who lost three daughters to Israeli shells in Gaza. “I have the right to feel angry,” he said. “So many people were expecting me to hate. My answer to them is I shall not hate. Let us hope,” he said, “for tomorrow.”
As beautiful as he makes that tragedy sound, it has yet to be proven. Obama was quoting Izzedin Abuelaish who on January 16, 2009 had 3 daughters killed during the fighting between the Israeli Defense Forces and Hamas.
The problem is that there is overwhelming evidence that the girls were killed by Hamas or their actions. Some reports have stated that Hamas snipers on the roof of their building were shooting at Israeli soldiers and a tank returned fire. Also, an investigation into the incident could not rule out the possibility that the girls were killed by an explosion of ammunition that was being stored in the building by Hamas or even from gun fire from Hamas forces. According to an article in Ynet news from January, 2009,
The IDF said Sunday that the investigation into the incident has yet to be completed, adding that the building in which the Abu Al-Aish family resided housed gunmen who opened fire at IDF forces. However, the army said it was not ruling out the possibility that the apartment was hit by Palestinian fire or explosive devices planted nearby.
The word games, blaming and out right untruths must stop before any negotiations can start.
In June of 2009 when Obama gave his speech in Cairo he made it clear where he stood. He stated,
“So let there be no doubt: The situation for the Palestinian people is intolerable. And America will not turn our backs on the legitimate Palestinian aspiration for dignity, opportunity, and a state of their own.”
I don’t recall being asked, as an American, if I agreed with that statement. I must have missed the survey.
If Obama is going to speak for each and every American, maybe he should re-read his own words from his speech last Thursday because the only part of it I agree with was when he said,
“No peace can be imposed upon them -- not by the United States; not by anybody else.”

Peace In Our Time - Neville Chamberlain and President Barak Hussein Obama

In 1938 Neville Chamberlain sacrificed the Czech Government to the Nazis in the name of peace and a misguided concern for the Czech peoples. On May 19, 2011 President Barack Hussein Obama appeared to sacrifice Israel to the Palestinians and the Arab world. The speech below by Neville Chamberlain as he sacrificed the Czech Republic to the Nazis is eerily familiar in tone and style to President Obama’s “Middle East” Speech.
I can well understand the reasons why the Czech Government have felt unable to accept the terms which have been put before them in the German memorandum. Yet I believe after my talks with Herr Hitler that, if only time were allowed, it ought to be possible for the arrangements for transferring the territory that the Czech Government has agreed to give to Germany to be settled by agreement under conditions which would assure fair treatment to the population concerned…
However much we may sympathize with a small nation confronted by a big and powerful neighbor, we cannot in all circumstances undertake to involve the whole British Empire in war simply on her account. If we have to fight it must be on larger issues than that. I am myself a man of peace to the depths of my soul. Armed conflict between nations is a nightmare to me; but if I were convinced that any nation had made up its mind to dominate the world by fear of its force, I should feel that it must be resisted. Under such a domination life for people who believe in liberty would not be worth living; but war is a fearful thing, and we must be very clear, before we embark upon it, that it is really the great issues that are at stake, and that the call to risk everything in their defense, when all the consequences are weighed, is irresistible.
The one major difference between the Czech Republic and the State of Israel is that Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, has tentatively refused President Obama’s gracious offer of appeasement and self destruction.
“Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday that U.S. President Barack Obama's vision of a Palestinian state on the borders of 1967 could leave the Jewish state "indefensible".
"The viability of a Palestinian State cannot come at the expense of Israel's existence," the Israeli leader said in a statement before flying to Washington for scheduled talks with Obama on Friday.”

The landscape of the Middle East is in the midst of unprecedented turmoil. It is unclear with whom Israel will have to negotiate this “Obama Peace” from Egypt to Tunisia. Egypt has The Muslim Brotherhood slowly taking political control, while Hezbollah, Iran, and Al-Qaeda are working diligently to destabilize the Middle East region and fill the political void with Shariah Compliant Political Islam
Israel’s two primary Palestinian peace partners in the Obama scenario are Hamas and Fatah. Hamas and Fatah have been actively engaged in a civil war since 2006 until a reconciliation agreement was signed in May of 2011. The conflict is called Wakseh among Palestinians, meaning humiliation, ruin, and collapse as a result of self-inflicted damage.
President Obama, in his May 19th speech, did not even call for Hamas to amend its Charter to normalize relations with Israel, in writing. The Hamas Charter states,
"Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it...There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors, and "The Islamic Resistance Movement believes that the land of Palestine is an Islamic Waqf consecrated for future Muslim generations until Judgement Day. It, or any part of it, should not be squandered: it, or any part of it, should not be given up. "
Until the above hate-filled elements of the Hamas Charter are removed, the roadmap to the destruction of Israel are unambiguous and clearly defined in both words and action.
In President Obama’s speech he described the popular uprisings in the Middle East as
“ ...when the actions of ordinary citizens spark movements for change because they speak to a longing for freedom that has been building for years. In America, think of the defiance of those patriots in Boston who used to pay taxes to a King, or the dignity of Rosa Parks as she sat courageously in her seat. So it was in Tunisia that tapped into that frustration felt throughout the country.”
It has been reported that these “movements of change” in the Middle East are led by the Muslim Brotherhood, Hezbollah, Al-Qaeda and a myriad of lesser known terrorist organizations. The goal of these terrorist organizations is to demand the “freedom” to choose Shariah Compliant Islam as a legal and governmental political ideology.
The fact our President attempts to attach the American concept of freedom and liberty to Shariah Islam exposes a willful ignorance of our Constitution, at best. Or worse, a calculated move to elevate Shariah Islam from a totalitarian political system into a secular humanist utopia.
It is imperative the Liberal Jews in America and Israel wake up and read the writing on the wall. President Obama looks at Israel as an oppressive U.S. colonial State occupying Jordanian/Palestinian land. Obama has raised the stakes and put Israel’s survival and national security recklessly at risk. Israel will always be America’s greatest Democratic ally in the Middle East.
Whether you are a Democrat or Republican is irrelevant when it concerns the national security of the State of Israel. President Obama’s Middle East speech should cement your resolve to stand in support of Israel. I stand with Israel, and so should you.

On January 20, 2011 The Ronald Reagan Republican Assemblies of Florida (RRRAF) invited Imam Muhammad Musri, Director of the Islamic Society of Central Florida for a self described “Town Hall Meeting” called Peace Through Understanding, Conservative and Muslim Viewpoints.
The meeting began with a stern warning that if any “doctored” audio or video was to appear on the internet the RRRAF would file a criminal complaint against the perpetrator. We brought two cameras with us but were told in the strongest of terms we were not allowed to film. We complied even though there is no expectation of privacy in an event open to the general public.
You will learn Imam Musri says he did not know who George Galloway was, before he entered his Mosque last year raising money for Hamas (video link). Musri, a few minutes later, admits Galloway goes around the world raising money for Hamas. We learned the title holder to Imam Musri’s main Mosque is an arm of the Muslim Brotherhood who is comprised of violent elements. Prior to that comment, Musri said he will have nothing do with groups like the Muslim Brotherhood. Imam Musri thought everyone in the audience was unaware and wouldn’t know about the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT) and The Muslim Brotherhood.
Tony Van?(inaudible) asked Imam Musri for his opinion about the Muslim Brotherhood, the Ground Zero Mosque, Shariah Law and CAIR because, “these people really scare me”. Imam Musri began with his explanation of the Muslim Brotherhood(MB). Musri said, “the (MB) has branched into significance number of groups some of them just charitable and others that are extreme, violent, like type, um , attack...(inaudible) and all of these are an offshoot of them. Working with the State Department we know that, uhh, they do not have here what is called an official presence...there is only suspicion that there are some Muslim Brotherhood (inaudible) that exist in the United States but the government position on them (is) that as long as they are just philosophically political Muslims, they are watching but they don’t have anything to do. Now, we as an organization, we believe, or we consider the Muslim Brotherhood as (is) an organization that we do not work with, deal with, or recognize in any way as part of our community.”
Approximately thirty minutes after the exchange above, I asked Imam Musri a followup question on the Muslim Brotherhood. I informed Imam Musri there was a document submitted into evidence at the 2007 Holy Land Foundation Terrorist Funding Trial, that in law enforcement circles is know as “The Project.” The document I was referring to is titled, “An Explanatory Memorandum On the General Strategic Goal for the Group” of which one of the groups listed is the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT). I purposely took this liberty so the audience could more easily follow my line of questioning. I informed Imam Musri that he had said earlier he does not work or deal with the Muslim Brotherhood, yet if you look at the Orange County Florida Property Appraisers site, one will see that his Mosque is owned by the North American Islamic Trust - an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood. Can you please explain this inconsistency? Remember, Musri said earlier there are many groups some charitable and some extreme and violent that are “offshoots” of the Muslim Brotherhood.
Imam Musri replied, “I do not believe that, or regard the North American Islamic Trust is a Muslim Brotherhood Organization, number one. It is an association of many Mosques across the country who felt for the protection of the real estate, that they needed, that, uhh, they should come together and form an organization, where some attorneys, and some real estate people understand the most combinative laws involved (inaudible) with, you know accountants. So that association was formed in many Mosques around the country registered with. When we saw that, umm, list and saw the name of that organization, the North American Islamic Trust, being listed as a co-conspirator, they, we informed them that we wanted to be separated from them. We do not know that there is a federal indictment of them of any kind, for evidence of support that they are involved in any activity, uhh, other than this ancillary reference to them, but never the less, we made, uhh, a legal request to have this organization that we after twenty five years we want to separate from them, because we do not want to be associated with any group in any way that is even remotely listed on (inaudible) for terrorism. So, we are still in legal proceedings because after twenty five years of them holding title to our property, it is really very difficult to take it back. And if you happen to know a very good attorney (laughing in the audience) to help us with this because we have spent several thousand dollars already and we have not been successful, because we even offer to buy it back, even though when we listed it they wouldn’t pay a penny. But, uhh, we operate 100 percent dependent of them, they do not have any say over what we do, they in my eighteen years of working this organization never have actually contacted them. They happen to hold the title and one day we will get them back and that, by the way, is only on one of the facilities, we have dozens of facilities across Florida that are all in our name. Because at that time in the 80’s, when the community was small that was the decision of people before me, that, umm, we believe was wrong decision, seeing that, we are still trying to follow through to get title back...(inaudible)... but good that you pointed it out.”
In this exchange, Imam Musri admitted an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood holds title to the Al-Raham Mosque on Goldenrod Road in Orlando, FL. It is a stretch to believe a group with ties to the Muslim Brotherhood exerts NO influence on the Mosques to which it holds title. It is reasonable to speculate that the Muslim Brotherhood organization may hand pick each of the Imams at the Mosques it holds title too. Imam Musri said that in the 18 years he has been there he has never “actually contacted them”. Admittedly, he has been working with NAIT since the memorandum was made public regarding the North American Islamic Trust, and their ties to the Muslim Brotherhood was made public. One can not start a legal proceeding to gain a property title without contacting the title holder.
Imam Musri’s statements in this instance contain gross contradictions that need to be illuminated and explained. Imam Musri has said that he does not regard the North American Islamic Trust as a Muslim Brotherhood entity. Musri’s statement contradicts Federal Court documents admitted as evidence in the largest terrorist funding case in U.S. history: The Holy Land Foundation Trial. Musri admits the Muslim Brotherhood exists, has violent offshoots, yet his denial that NAIT is a part of the Muslim Brotherhood is a clever debating trick to deceive his conservative audience. This admission that the Muslim Brotherhood has violent extremist offshoots operating in America, as confirmed by Imam Musri, hopefully will prompt our State Department to add the Muslim Brotherhood to it’s Current List of Designated Foreign Terrorist Organizations.
Imam Musri made the comment he does not support any of the groups listed as terrorist organizations by the U.S. State Department. Musri’s comment is reassuring to the average American but a little research presents a different picture. Number 12 on the Current List of Designated Foreign Terrorist Organizations is Hamas.
Last year a video ,http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-HIQQMUrLc, was made public showing George Galloway, Imam Mahdi Bray, and the Muslim American Society raising money for Hamas in the Gymnasium of Imam Musri’s Al-Raham Mosque in Orlando, FL. George Galloway’s visa to enter the United States was recently revoked, some speculate, because of his Hamas funding activities. I asked Imam Musri how he can say he doesn’t support Hamas, yet allow fundraisers to be held at his Mosque property, specifically for Hamas?
Imam Musri replied, “It wasn’t to my knowledge that Mr. Galloway, whom I did not know before, uhh, was invited by the group who used our, they didn’t, do anything at our Mosque. They rented this room, they rented the auditorium of the school, just as tonight we rented this place. And they conducted that event, brought that speaker, without my knowledge or approval, which I subsequently reprimanded them for it, and took measures to bar that group and individuals locally who promoted them to coming. But I personally investigated what happened, and what was the money that was raised for that event was going to. We know that there was a war between Hamas and Israel two years ago, and a lot of the Palestinians, the public not the Hamas, not the Fatah, not any government, but the public who got in the crossfire. A lot of people needed help and that is how the fundraiser was conducted and was for, to strictly help the public. And the conditions were that that help would go as a medical supplies, like canes, like wheelchairs, like to civilians who got hurt who don’t have these medical supplies they desperately need. And I would think that Mr. Galloway had other fundraisers around the world, to raise money for Hamas. Because of that we told that group that in no circumstance he or people like him should come, but frankly, we’ve not, umm, we don’t have the resources of the U.S. Government to investigate people before they arrive and speak and know what they going to do in the future. And that happened many times with visitors to the United States, uhh, and I believe our government should have not given him a visa to come to the country and raise money anywhere and then do something like that, ok. But the way it was presented that he was an Englishman, Parliamentarian, and if you saw in the UK government, it’s assumed he is a safe person, but it turned out he is not so, and that he since he has done things like that, I was shocked and surprised physically later on. But we are very much taking measures against things happening like that, even though we investigated and I asked the FBI, and discussed this with them, and said I want to know, for the comfort of my mind, that every dollar that was raised in this community, even though it did not come to our Masjid, that it did not go anywhere to Hamas or any political group out there. And they showed me that there is nothing big enough to say that was the case. But they said wheelchairs were purchased, canes, other medical equipment, uhh, they gave us pictures of them, they put them in a container and shipped it to Egypt and then it was delivered to the city of (inaudible). “
It is inconceivable Imam Musri would not be aware who would be coming to his Mosque, an event that would draw close to 500 people. It is even harder to believe Imam Musri had no idea who George Galloway was, or cared to find out, prior to the event. YES, Imam Musri, the Galloway event that took place on your Mosque property may not be necessarily right in your Masjid (prayer room), however, to make that minor distinction is disrespectful to your audience.
I find it difficult to believe the Muslim American Society(MAS) just rented your auditorium and that was all of your involvement. Musri then blames the U.S. Government for issuing Galloway a visa because he said he was raising money for Hamas around the world. It is also inconceivable the FBI would be able to track the money that was raised on the Mosque property, but under the control of the MAS, and tell you with any certainty that none of the $55,000 raised that night managed to find its way into Hamas’ hands. Imam Musri you blame your Muslim brothers, the U.S. Government, and everyone but yourself for a Hamas fundraiser on your Muslim Brotherhood owned property.
These alarming stories are just from only one Mosque complex in the relatively small city of Orlando Florida. If Imam Musri is unable to do the most basic of Google searches to check if George Galloway’s Hamas fundraising activities are associated for Hamas around the world, or to inform the FBI of the Muslim American Societies’ sponsorship of Galloway, how can we count on the Islamic Center of Central Florida to be the first tier watchdogs for Islamist extremists in Central Florida?

Imam Musri stated in a 2/22/2011 Orlando Sentinel article, that Anjem Chaudary does not represent Islam, Chaudary advocates that Shariah (Islamic Law) should be the law of the land in America. The Title Holder to Imam Musri’s Mosque, NAIT, requires Musri’s Mosque complex “...is in strict compliance with Islamic rules of conduct and code” (Shariah) at all times according to the 19th Judicial Circuit Court Orange County, FL, Case No: 08-CA-1637. Imam Musri appears to be playing a double game with the American people and has more in common with Anjem Chaudary and George Galloway than he would like to admit.

What Rep. Peter King Could Do About Radicalization of American Muslims

In a NewsdayOp ed published on December 19th following Representative Peter King's election as US House Homeland Security Committee Chairman, he laid out the case for conducting investigative hearings on radicalization of American Muslims:
Even today I cannot begin to describe the disappointment, anger and outrage I felt when, barely a month after the 9/11 attacks that killed so many hundreds of Long Islanders, prominent Long Island Muslim leaders were insisting there was no evidence that al-Qaida was responsible for the attacks - even saying it could have been the CIA, the FBI or the Zionists!
Even more troubling is that to this day, no Muslim leader has denounced those vile remarks.
{. . .] it became more and more obvious to me that the moral myopia of Long Island's Muslim leaders and their apologists in the media was the rule - and that there were few exceptions.
Federal and local law enforcement officials throughout the country told me they received little or - in most cases - no cooperation from Muslim leaders and imams.
This noncooperation was perilous enough in the years following 9/11, when the main Islamist threat to the homeland emanated from overseas.
Al-Qaida has adjusted to this new reality and is recruiting Muslims living legally in the United States - homegrown terrorists who have managed to stay under the anti-terror radar screen. This is why the hearings I will hold . . are so critical.
The New York Times in a January 2nd editorial poured oil on the fire of controversy about these upcoming hearings:
Mr. King, a New York Republican, is no stranger to bluster, but his sweeping slur on Muslim citizens is unacceptable.
We agree with Representative Keith Ellison of Minnesota, the nation’s first Muslim elected to the House, who called Mr. King’s words “very scary.” It is worthwhile to try to fathom “what turns somebody from a normal citizen into a violent radical,” Mr. Ellison says, but not by vilifying an entire community for openers.
In a January 4th, The Hillreport King replied:
The New York Times is just basically being a mouthpiece for political correctness. These are very legitimate hearings. I’m certainly not going to take any political advice or direction from The New York Times People follow what I say. I’m outspoken, but I can back up everything I say.
Zead Ramadan, the New York Chair of Muslim Brotherhood Front, the Council on American Islamic Relations criticized King in a letter to Newsday:
Maybe Congressman King should first check with FBI Director Robert Mueller, who testified to the Muslim community's patriotism, cooperation and support before House and Senate committees in 2008 and 2009. Mueller told the Senate Judiciary Committee that the Muslim community "has been tremendously supportive and worked very closely with [the FBI] in a number of instances around the country."
King has a long history of extremist rhetoric and baseless allegations against American Muslims, including claiming that most mosques nationwide are run by "radicals." In 2004, he said 80 to 85 percent of American mosques are controlled by Islamic fundamentalists."
Another Newsday letter, from a West Hempstead, New York constituent, Marshall Bozzi, pretty well summed up the feelings of many Americans about your leadership on this issue:
Rep. Peter King is not afraid to call a spade a spade. Not afraid to take the Muslim community to task for denial of 9/11 and other similar acts. The liberals keep their heads in the sand, afraid to offend them for the usual sad reasons. Not Rep. King.
It's time the Muslim community publicly recognizes and acknowledges its failure in this regard and does all in its power through action in its centers and mosques to suppress the cultivation of homegrown terrorists. Then the anti-Muslim attitude in the United States would be eliminated.
That theme was picked up by M. Zhudi Jasser of the American Forum on Islam and Democracy in a New York Post column when he wrote:
Our national inability to discuss religious issues honestly is keeping American Muslims from having to accept the reforms needed to defeat political Islam and bring our faith into modernity. The victimization mantra feeds more Muslim isolation and radicalization.
A recent global study by the Pew Research Center showed that Muslims are aligning themselves more and more with Islamism. Of course, most major American Muslim groups, such ISNA, CAIR and MPAC, were built on some strand of that ideology. But knowing where most American Muslims fall in the spectrum of Islamism-vs.-liberalism, as King hopes to find out in his hearings, would be a key step toward countering radicalization.

Henderson is a typical small town. It has a population of 15,850 and is located in North Carolina's Vance county, about 36 miles from Durham and 40 miles from Raleigh, the state’s capital.
I've had the pleasure of visiting Henderson myself. I spent a week there one day. Aside from being able to stop at the McDonald’s while driving through North Carolina, there’s not much to do.
One thing we have an abundance of in the United States is small towns. We think of them like Norman Rockwell paintings, quiet, quaint and beautiful places to visit for the way America used to be.
The last thing we think about is their possible connections to al-Qaeda, but that is what is happening more and more in small towns across the country.
The raid that occurred in Henderson made very little news, but is that really a surprise given our main stream media today? According to a local newspaper, the Henderson Daily Dispatch,
Henderson’s only mosque was a “place of interest” during a federal action that locked down four convenience stores and a residential property in Henderson for several hours Thursday afternoon.
Agents with the FBI, the ATF and the North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement Division executed a number of search warrants, with county and city law enforcement support to maintain order at the search sites.
This was no small raid. There were at least 4 different Federal agencies involved along with two North Carolina State agencies and local law enforcement. They converged on 4 stores, a residence and a mosque with unmarked cars and a helicopter.
The Henderson Daily Dispatch explained the charges,
The FBI early Friday morning arrested Abdullah Ahmed Almuwallad, 32, and Mohamed Mohamed Nagi, 33, both of Henderson, on separate charges related to Thursday’s convenience store raids in Henderson by federal agents.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Raleigh remained mum on possible further arrests, but criminal complaint documents referenced additional suspects not yet arrested as having taken part in illegal activities charged in the cases.
Almuwallad stands charged on possession with the intent to distribute an illegal drug, namely Cathinone, aiding and abetting criminal acts and interstate transportation of stolen property.
Nagi stands charged with unlawful use, transfer and possession of food stamps, converting them to personal or unauthorized uses and with wire fraud.
According to World Net Daily,
Authorities suspect the stores were operating a so-called hawala money-transfer network supporting terrorist activities in Yemen, including al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, WND has learned.
Investigators suspect proceeds from cigarette smuggling and food stamp irregularities have been laundered through the Henderson stores to terror front groups in Yemen.
Well-organized Islamic and other cigarette smuggling networks generate between $200,000 and $300,000 per week in New York alone, found a 2008 House Homeland Security Committee staff report.
Okay, so we have 4 stores, a residence and a mosque. Who owns these places?
According to an updated article in the Daily Dispatch,
A spokesperson with the FBI confirmed the stores included Brothers Food Mart, Dabney Pit Stop , College Station and M-S & A&A market.
A law enforcement patrol car remained stationed behind Henderson Furniture Mart, near the entrance to Henderson’s only Muslim mosque.
Thoreson said the furniture store and mosque were not searched, but she confirmed that the mosque was a “place of interest” during the overall search operation.
She confirmed the search warrants were a part of a coordinated law enforcement investigation led by the FBI. “We have activity in that area,” she said. “This is all federal.”
The furniture mart and at least two of the convenience stores are owned by local businessman Abdo Saleh.
Thoreson said she was instructed to decline comment on whether Saleh was the focus of the investigation, if certain types of items are sought or have been seized, or if charges are pending as the investigation moves forward.
“That I cannot get into,” she said.
The Henderson mosque [was] opened early this year by Saleh who said he used resources from his established business enterprises to provide a mosque for downtown Henderson.
So, the furniture store, two of the convenience stores and the mosque are all owned by Abdo Saleh.
I figured since this guy wasn't arrested with his, oh, I guess we can call them “brothers in arms”, I would look him up and see what he had to say for himself.
Well believe it or not, all of these places were open for business as I called around looking for Abdo Saleh. I finally reached someone who knew Saleh's whereabouts when I called the College Station, one of the stores that had been raided.
To say this was a fun conversation would be a true understatement. The young man who answered the phone and was running the store at the time was more than willing to tell me all about the raid, the mosque and the Muslim community in Henderson, NC.
When I asked him his name, he told me:
“Yosef Saleh.”
Oh this was too good to be true, I had to ask the obvious,
“Are you related to Abdo?”
He answered with a smile in his voice and was proud to say,
“Yes, he's my dad.”
I almost felt bad speaking with Yosef, he was eager to share his story. When he asked my name I told him I was a reporter for a website that does stories on Muslims in the United States. Okay a little bit of Taqiyya on my part, but what the hell. I never did give him a name, but he gave me his “dad's” cell phone number.
After getting Abdo Saleh's voice mail a couple times I called Yosef back, he was actually sorry that I couldn't reach his father and spoke with me himself.
Yosef said that the raid and arrests were probably “just because we are Muslim.” When I asked him about the drug “cathinone” he said,
“I don't even know if it's illegal here, where I come from in Yemen everyone does it. It's like chewing tobacco is here, it calms you down.”
Really? “It calms you down”?
The Daily Dispatch had reported in reference to the drug,
According to the complaint narratives, the Henderson Police Department on July 7 received a tip from U.S. Postal Service sources that boxes of controlled substances had been shipped to A&A Mini Mart, a convenience store owned by Almuwallad’s family.
North Carolina Crime Lab analysis confirmed the latest shipment contained more than 40 pounds of Cathinone, also known as Khat, a schedule I controlled substance.
40 pounds in just the last shipment? That's a lot of calming down.
So, once again our law enforcement received a tip, it wasn't just “targeting” Muslims.
I asked Yosef about the mosque and he said that about 30-40 people attend and when I asked him if he ever heard anything about terror or jihad there he said,
“No, as a matter of fact, the last time I was there we were talking about peace.”
Whew! That makes me feel better already, they are using this drug to calm down and talking about peace. Sounds like Woodstock to me.
The bottom line is this... North Carolina has a State Tax on cigarettes of 5 cents a pack. Michigan for example has a tax of 75 cents a pack. You do the math. Buy in North Carolina and smuggle to Michigan and make 70 cents a pack. That doesn't even include the price difference of the mark up when buying at wholesale in one state and selling them elsewhere.
Why Michigan? According to authorities Abdo Saleh is related to Saleh Saleh in Dearborn, Michigan. Why was that mentioned in one of the reports? I'm just playing connect the dots here.
As far as the food stamps, the Daily Dispatch also reported,
August investigations of Nagi included at least one agent-run controlled delivery of food-stamp EBT cards to an unnamed Henderson area informant.
One of the cards was later redeemed at the College Station Mart co-owned by Nagi. In much of October and November, controlled buys implicated Nagi in 11 EBT card purchases, with the cards being redeemed.
Values on the cards totaled more than $5,000, profiting Nagi about $3,300 after paying a confidential informant in the case.
11 Food stamp cards in 2 months netted Nagi $3300. Quick math tells me that would average out to $19,800.00 a year. How do you like the sound of that? A possible $20,000 a year of your tax dollars going to your (alleged) local terrorist organization.
Yes, let's not forget, we, the tax payers are footing the bill on those food stamp cards and this is from just one individual in small town USA. How many more like that are there?
Then again, let's remember that none of these people have been convicted, they were only charged and in the U.S. people are innocent until proven guilty.
I mean, it could be just like Yosef said, the arrests could be just because they are Muslims.

ISLAMIC APARTHEID MUSLIMS ONLY
Islamic Apartheid in Mecca and Medina is a legal, political, and religious segregation enforced by the Shariah compliant country of Saudi Arabia, under which the rights of the majority Muslim population were maintained and minority rights by everyone else are severely restricted. Saudi Arabia is a sovereign country and has the right to engage and enforce any type of bigoted hateful policies they see fit towards non-Muslims. Advocates of tolerance and pluralism here in America have an obligation to speak out against bigotry and hatred wherever it is found - yet these groups remain silent on Islamic Apartheid resulting in a double standard that merits further discussion regardless if you are liberal or conservative.
The Islamic apartheid problem in America exists because every Mosque and Muslim Advocacy group in America promotes the bigoted exclusionary practices of Mecca and Medina with their silence. The wholesale promotion of Mecca and Medina bigotry is embraced and accepted by Islamists because of the fifth pillar of Islam or pilgrimage called the Hajj. Performance of the Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca) is required of every adult Muslim, male or female, if physically and financially possible. Many Muslims spend their entire lives saving and planning for this journey. Every Mosque in America who promotes the Hajj endorses the Islamic Apartheid bigotry that is currently in force inside Mecca and Medina. It is well past time for all the Mosques in America and their respective Imams to condemn the exclusionary and bigoted practice of Islamic Apartheid in Mecca and Medina in the name of pluralism and tolerance. Imagine the outrage if the Vatican only allowed Catholics or Christians access to their most holy of sites, and rightfully so.
At the sixty-fifth session of the General Assembly of the United Nations, 9/25/2010, the statement of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia delivered by their Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.R.H Prince Saud Al-Faisal, exposes Saudi Arabia’s dangerous double game. Prince Saud Al-Faisal delivers pluralistic platitudes for Western consumption to the United Nations while the Apartheid Shariah laws of Mecca and Medina shed valuable insight into how Saudi Arabia, and more importantly, Shariah Law, views non-Muslims with actions rather than meaningless words.
Prince Al-Faisal said: “ My country (Saudi Arabia)believes in the importance of full, universal commitment to the fundamental principles of the United Nations, including the regulation of relations between States, the maintenance of international law, and the international legitimacy and rejection, of all forms of violence and extremism. These noble goals are fully in keeping with magnanimous Islamic Shariah, since the eternal message of Islam is unificatory and non divisive, just and equitable, and NON-DISCRIMINATORY, and advocates co-operation among ALL PEOPLES OF THE WORLD, in order to further their welfare and happiness, and safeguard their rights and dignity.”
The double game being played here is neither subtle or hidden for those who choose to see it. Saudi Arabia is proselytizing the message that Islamic Shariah Law is just, equitable, non-discriminatory, and advocates cooperation among all peoples of the world. The previous message of pluralism is exactly what the American people must hear to feel safe and secure with the dark cloud of Islamist Jihad casting a dark, looming shadow over the United States of America.
Prince Al-Faisal goes on to say, “ Accordingly, the Government of the Two Holy Mosques, emphasizes the need to put the principles embodied in the Charter of the United Nations into actual and effective practice, in a non selective manner, without any double standard.” Prince Al-Faisal’s statement is a lie! Those in America who take refuge in this falsehood do so at their own peril. Unfortunately, there are many in the current administration, State Department, universities, Synagogues, Churches, and Islamic Interfaith Initiatives, all across the country, who are knowingly, under their watchful and complicit eye, perpetuating the lies of Saudi pluralism, as Islamic Apartheid is being practiced in the Kingdom.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, aka government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, have made it illegal for any person, who is non-Muslim, to enter Mecca and Medina. This policy, makes a mockery of Prince Saud Al-Faisal’s claim, that the eternal message of Islam and Shariah Law, is “ Non-discriminatory”. It is a colossal joke and insult to the 5.4 billion inhabitants of earth who are not Muslim. The former South African Apartheid racial hatred issue pales in comparison to the Apartheid of Mecca and Medina. Islamic Apartheid of Mecca and Medina is important because Political Islam makes it obligatory for all Muslims in the world to be co-conspirators in the bigotry and hatred heaped upon any Non-Muslim who dares to set foot inside the borders of either city.
Obligatory is the key word here when it comes to Islamic Doctrine. Islamic doctrine states the Qur’an is the uncorrupted word of God/Allah, and is the last divinely inspired document on earth. All previous religious and political texts have been corrupted by man, and are believed by “good” Muslims to be inferior to the Qur’an. Those corrupted texts include the Bible, Torah, U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights, and any other political and religious texts men use to guide them in all matters of life and politics. Agnostics, Atheists, and Secular Humanists are not given a pass either. Islamists view Atheists and Secular Humanists as weak and without faith in the one true God, Allah, and have a special hellish place reserved for you too.
The politics of Mecca and Medina is the window to understanding how most all Muslims view us 5.4 Billion Non-Muslims. We have learned non-Muslims are not permitted to enter Mecca or Medina under Shariah Law. The Saudi government supports their position using Qur’an 9:28, “O you who believe! the idolaters are nothing but unclean, so they shall not approach the Sacred Mosque after this year; and if you fear poverty then Allah will enrich you out of His grace if He please; surely Allah is Knowing Wise.”

The Saudi government Custodians of the Two Holy Mosques see all 5.4 Billion non-Muslims as “nothing but unclean.” You know it is true, because no matter how much you may not like me for saying it - YOU will be arrested if you enter Mecca or Medina. Every Mosque and Islamic Center in America is complicit in this Islamic Apartheid, because it is obligatory for them to help and encourage every Muslim to make the Hajj and teach the 5th Pillar of Islamic Apartheid. Islamic Apartheid is a crime against humanity. All people who believe in pluralism and tolerance must lead the way in demanding American Muslims and their Imams stop supporting this abhorrent Islamic Apartheid practice with their silence.

Non-Muslims Banned from Mecca and Medina
Mosques and Islamic Centers across the United States of America openly promote bigotry and exclusionary practices against non-Muslims. When an American convert/revert to Islam wishes to go on Hajj to Mecca the U.S. Saudi Consulate requires this document from a Hajj visa applicant, “If the applicant has converted to Islam, an Islamic certificate must be presented; this needs to be notarized by an Islamic Center.” Without the “Notarized Islamic Certificate” from a United States Mosque or Islamic Center ones Hajj visa to enter Mecca and Medina is denied based solely on religious affiliation.
The Saudi Arabia government is a sovereign nation and has the right to practice whatever apartheid policies they wish. American Mosques and their Imams are condoning Islamic apartheid by supporting the Saudi government’s bigoted exclusionary practices in Mecca and Medina while operating as tax exempt entities here in the United States. The practice of supporting Muslim supremacist apartheid in Mecca and Medina by the United States Muslim community is offensive and morally reprehensible.
The Saudi Government has made it illegal for any non-Muslim to set foot on Mecca and Medina Soil. If a non-Muslim is discovered on Mecca or Medina soil that individual will be thrown in jail for violating Saudi Shariah Law. The Islamists believe the infidel/non-Muslim is unclean and therefore excluded from entering Mecca and Medina. The equivalent would be if the Vatican only allowed Christians or Catholics on Vatican soil to the exclusion of everyone else. I can hear the outcry from civil and human rights groups around the world blasting the Vatican for it’s exclusionary apartheid policies – and rightfully so. Yet when Saudi Arabia does the exact same thing the world is silent and submits to this abhorrent practice. Why the double standard and why the silence from the worlds intellectuals, human and civil rights activists, Imams, and mainstream media?
Andrew McCarthy said, “The supremacist edict that bans non-Muslims from Islam’s core territories was not, after all, al Qaeda’s idea. It comes, undeniably, from Islam itself: “The pagans are unclean,” instructs the Qur’an’s Sura 9:28, “so let them not, after this year of theirs, Approach the Sacred Mosque.” Muslim leaders across the United States are unapologetic and silent because the Qur’an demands all Muslim’s submit to the politics of Sura 9:28. I am sure there are some American Muslim leaders who are against this supremacist apartheid edict from Allah to the Angel Gabriel to Muhammad but they live in fear if they publicly speak out. If any Muslim speaks out about the bigotry and hatred towards non-Muslim in Mecca and Medina they will be charged with blasphemy to Allah, Muhammad, and Islam itself. If any Muslim calls for the opening of Mecca and Medina to all people of the world they will put their very lives at risk from their fellow Muslims. Non-Muslims will applaud these integrationist Muslims as liberal reformers who understand the American political concept that, “All men are created equal…” I believe the Islamists will have to follow Shariah law because Allah’s laws supersede all man made laws on earth. The classic manual of Islamic sacred law, Umdat al-Salik (Reliance of the Traveller) page 789 s4.6 states they(blasphemers) act as if they are “above the Sacred Law” and in that case the “Imam of the Muslims or his representative is obliged to kill him.” Now you understand exactly why many Islamist reformers are silent due to fear of their fellow Muslims killing them. Muslims legally killing their fellow Muslims over leaving Islam and blasphemy laws is a common practice. I can just imagine how much the silent majority of Islamists must despise non-believers when talking amongst themselves behind closed doors. The Qur’an 9:28 teaches we infidels are unclean and not pure enough to visit the cities of Mecca and Medina. According to Qur’an 9:28 all men are not created equal
The 5th Pillar of Islam is the Hajj and one of the foundations of Muslim life. How contemptible is the 5th Pillar of Islam when it demands Muslim’s submit to this bigoted, exclusionary, and hateful practice of excluding all non-Muslims from Mecca and Medina. Yes, I say hateful with the utmost conviction, Qur’an verse 9:28 states clearly all Infidels are “unclean”. The Government of Saudi Arabia honors the Qur’ans demands and has made it illegal for infidels to step foot on their precious soil. American Imam’s must also believe all Infidels are unclean because they are complicit in helping any American Muslim to participate in the Hajj to the exclusion of everyone else who is not a Muslim. Rep. Keith Ellison just recently returned from Hajj knowing the majority of his constituents are excluded legally from following his example. I was offended by South African apartheid as I am offended by Islamist Apartheid.
I call on every Mosque and Islamic Cultural Center that is a registered tax exempt 501(c)(3) to demand publicly Saudi Arabia stop their apartheid supremacist practice of excluding all non-Muslims from stepping foot inside Mecca and Medina. I demand all Imams and Islamic civil rights groups stand up for the civil rights of non-Muslims who are marginalized as sub-human and denied entry inside Mecca and Medina based solely on being non-Muslim. The issue of Mecca and Medina apartheid bigotry and hatred is a crystal clear issue of right and wrong. You are either for Mecca and Medina apartheid bigotry and hatred against non-Muslims or you are against it. I am against it – What are you? Let the conversation begin.

SOMALI MUSLIM PIRATES/JIHADISTS
The root of Muslim Piracy against United States marine vessels dates back more than 200 years to the Barbary Pirates of North Africa. Capturing merchant ships and holding their crews for ransom provided the rulers of North African nations with wealth and naval power. In July 1785, Algerian Muslim Pirates of Algeria captured two American ships and held their crews of twenty-one people for a ransom of nearly $60,000. In 1801 the Pasha of Tripoli declared war on the United States when President Thomas Jefferson refused to pay $225,000 and $25,000 per year as Jizya or tribute to the Muslim Nation. This is the story of how our U.S. Navy was born and saved the life of American Captain Richard Phillips from Somali Muslim Pirates on April 12, 2009.
It is ironic that our country was first attacked by those who follow the same Islamist political ideology who attacked our ships in 1785. Those same attacks are beginning to increase in number and frequency in 2009. Muslim piracy was a problem for the French and British before our country gained independence. The problem of Islamist violence pre-dates the United States, so for all you people who think it is the United States fault for Islamic militancy you are dead wrong and history will not or ever support your misguided position. Jefferson believed the best way to learn about the political, military, social, economic, and religious agendas of America’s enemies was to read the best textbook on all things Muslim. So he read the Qur’an in what for his day was a state-of-the-art translation into English directly from the Arabic. Jefferson’s copy of the Koran equipped him with everything he needed to know on how to respond to threats from the caliphates of the early 1800s. Our current political leaders would do well to take Jefferson’s lead. However, in another ironic twist, our countries first Muslim Congressman, Keith Ellison, took his oath of office on Thomas Jefferson’s original Qur’an. How is it in America that our first war as a new nation was fought against the Muslims of North Africa and today one of our elected officials who adheres to the same Political Ideology of Islam takes his oath of office on what is the equivalent of the Islamic Constitution called the Qur’an?
In 1785 Thomas Jefferson rightly believed the attacks of the Barbary Muslim Pirates were an act of war. Today, our previous and current administrations view Muslim Piracy as mere criminal activity. This is a big problem because our elected officials refuse to name our enemy in the clearest of terms. The result of this dereliction of duty by our President and State Department, results in the American people being unable to identify our Islamist enemies and how to put a stop to attacks against our sovereign country. So let’s look back in history to see how Thomas Jefferson handled the situation. In response to a declaration of war on the nascent United States of America by the Barbary Coast Islamic caliphates, Thomas Jefferson sent the USS Constitution to the Mediterranean in 1803. The fighting during these days saw many acts of heroism that established the U.S. Navy as a force to be reckoned with. Economics was one of the primary motivations for Barbary Muslim piracy. One of the primary objectives was to take slaves. Muslims were discouraged from holding other Muslims in slavery. Thus capturing infidel Europeans avoided this problem. Slavery is an institution recognized in the Qur’an and other Islamic teaching. The Barbary pirates succeeded in capturing large numbers of Europeans who were then sold into slavery. There were important slave markets in Algeria and Morocco. There is no precise accounting of the numbers of victims involved in the Barbarry slave taking. One historian estimates that 1.0-1.25 million people may have been captured and sold into slavery during the more than three centuries that the pirates operate in force (16th-early 19th centuries). The other reason was to expand the spread of Islam by subduing it’s enemies.
So what motivates the Somali Muslim Pirates of today and how do we confront and end this act of war against the United States of America? Somalia is home to the famous 1993 Black Hawk Down Clinton debacle resulting in the deaths of 18 U.S. servicemen. The Somali transitional government expanded its parliament to include the opposition and elected Sheikh Ahmed as its new president on January 31, 2009. Sheikh Ahmed then appointed Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke, the son of slain former President Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke, as the nation's new Prime Minister. Somalia is an Islamist State with ties to Al-Queda. The Muslim pirates do not act alone but with the support of their Government and its people. Therefore, it is up to President Barak Hussein Obama to use the full force of the U.S. military forcing the Somali government to submit and put an end to the Somali Muslim Pirates operating with freedom within and outside their borders. The United States has the power to make life so uncomfortable for the Somali government they will voluntarily put a stop to the economic Jihad on the high seas by their fellow Somali Muslim countrymen.
“As America soon learned, a policy of accommodation only encouraged the brigands of the Barbary Coast to seize more ships and to take more captives. Far from providing safe passage to American and other foreign vessels, the North African rulers remained active accomplices to the crime of piracy, taking protection money while at the same time permitting the Jihad on the high seas to continue.
“Things were to change, however, with the election of Thomas Jefferson. In addition to his reputation as an author, scholar and principal architect of the Declaration of Independence, Jefferson also was an outspoken opponent of the practice of tribute. He saw it not only as an affront to the nation’s dignity, but also as an ineffectual response to an abhorrent practice. He argued that ultimately the policy of appeasement would fail because, in conveying weakness, it also encouraged further treachery. He was right.”
U.S. Navy Special Forces took out three of the four Muslim Somali Pirates holding Captain Richard Phillips who will return home to his family tonight unharmed. President Obama said, "we must continue to work with our partners to prevent future attacks, be prepared to interdict acts of piracy and ensure that those who commit acts of piracy are held accountable for their crimes,". Mr. President these are not mere criminal acts – they are acts of war and should be treated as such.
The world may have changed technologically in the last 200+ years but the nature of Fundamentalist Islam remains the same. Fundamentalist Muslims live and promote through violence and terrorism a totalitarian political ideology fighting for the House of Islam or Dar al-Islam. The Somali Muslim Pirates are a symptom of that problem that must be dealt with utilizing the strong and outstretched arm of our United States Military. Anything short of a military response will be viewed as appeasement and weakness on the part of or enemies. Neville Chamberlin learned appeasement does not work, so must President Obama. If we as a country do not learn the lessons Thomas Jefferson taught us back in 1785, the winds of change will howl with a terrible vengeance across our slumbering country.
